Already in high school he decided that he would devote e-commerce photo editing himself to the study of art history but the family did not have money for education. So Victor decided to take up photography. He believed that being a photographer he would be able to travel a lot and get acquainted with works of art. To gain experience he worked for a year for free in photography studios in Bremen. Having won a photography contest he won a big sea cruise. On the ship Viktor met onboard photographer Hans Chira a Leica specialist who became his teacher. Chira was known for photographing elite cruises famous passengers.
